Hello, i am setting up a new rig, but with an old monitor, i am going for a gtx 650 ti boost edition which has dvi and hdmi support.

Monitor: a 19" samsung syncmaster 933, which has only a vga support @ 1360 X 768 resolution.
I would be getting a dvi cable along with a dvi to vga adapter.

So would there be any issues with the display(monitor)?

Solution

You will get good fps.
No negatives :)
Wow! GTX650Ti for 1360 X 768? it is an overkill ^o^
It will definitely work but the GPU is an overkill.
You should plan to get a better monitor :)

Now to the point...
I am just curious..I get the DVI to VGA adapter in the VGA box of my previous HIS HD3850 and current Shappire HD6850.
Did you not receive any adapter along with the GTX650Ti?
If not, it is also not expensive to get, I think it should be below or around USD10.

Oh, i haven't yet purchased it, would be getting it tomorrow. Yeah i know its probably an overkill at that resolution? but could there be any negative effects? Would i get a good fps @ crysis 3 and metro last light?

Thanks, this a budget rig, couldn't do more, i'm from india and the 660 cost 4K more than the 650 ti, but that'd be alotta money for like mmhmm 10% more performance, Games that i really wanna play with good fps: splinter cell blacklist, nfs rivals, battlefield 4, saints row 4, watch dogs and gta5(if a pc version is developed)

I'm not going for the normal gtx 650 ti, but perhaps the boost edition the gtx 650 ti boost, and its more of a downgraded 660 than an upgraded 650, the 650 ti boost retails for 12200.. and check this link:

Thanks for the advice, but i haven't selected the gtx 650 ti due to no reasons i need its physx and its CUDA cores(for rendering, animation, etc)

My previous rig had a palit nvidia 8400 gs DDR2:
VRAM: 512 MB
Pixel filrate: 1.8 GPixels/s
Texture: 3.7 GTexel/s
Bus-width: 64bit
Bandwidth: 5.6 GB/s

I played hitman absolution in lowest settings at lowest resolution at 20 fps
far cry 3 lowest setting and resolution @ 18 fps
remember me lowest setting and resolution @ 18 - 25 fps..

so now whatever i get, would def. make me happy..
