hey guys my computer is lagging badly in games that it used to run just fine,

http://gpuz.techpowerup.com/13/08/08/a76.png

GPU-Z program reports that my graphics card supports pce express x16 2.0 but is currently running in pci express x1 1.1.

i have tried going into the bios settings and changing it to pci x16 but when i save setting and start computer my screen goes blank and i get beeping noises and then i have to take out the lithium batter to reset my bios and be able to start the computer back up again

Solution
on desktop the card will clock down and only signal in pci-e 1 mode to save power.

it could be a driver issue, grab driver fusion and your latest drivers.

uninstall old driver and dont restart.
run driver fusion and clean your cards brand of driver.
install driver as custom and only install display driver and hdmi driver.

see if this helps at all.

also grab ccleeaner and run the file cleaner then run the registry cleaner multiple times till it finds no errors.

ok that makes no sense to me but i am now running a game and its still in 1.1 mode not 2.0 and i am still getting lag,if it changes when you staryt and stop a game why is there an option in the bios settings to change your graphics adapter from PCE,PCI-EX1 ,PCI-EX16

my default bios setting is PCE which is really slow, when i put it to x16 computer doesnt work and in pci-e x1 it works a tiny bit better

ok, it could be a motherboard problem or the graphics card, remove the card and try it in a different slot if you have one or just place it firmly back into its slot again making sure its in completely and try changing it to pcie 16 mode again.
