Good morning, I'm hoping someone here can help me where Google has failed.

I'm trying to replace my current Linksys WRT54G with a new Linksys WRT120N I have just acquired.
The problem is that when I run the setup for the new router it will not detect my internet connection. I know it works as i'm using it now with the 54G.

I have tried the reset button and powering down the router several times and I have tried many google solutions including trying to clone the mac but it does not seem to work. The numbers on the status page are still a bunch of zero's.

Every time I reconnect the old 54G the connection works without problems.

I have looked at ipconfig/all but it is all greek to me so maybe someone can help me fix this once and for all.

Here are the ipconfig files.

I am running vista connected to a cable broadband connection.

I am going to assume you have a cable modem since this is the most common issue. Mac cloning should have worked but you may have mistyped something.

The more standard way to fix this is to turn off the cable modem for a minute or 2. Then turn on the modem let it fully come up. Plug in your new modem and turn the power on to that. This should reset everything.

Otherwise you are back to the mac cloning and being very careful to do it right. You want to clone the mac address of your old router not your PC. Both the network posts you included are from your PC and have little value since it is the router on the wan side that has issues.

Yes i missed that part out I am in the US using cable broadband with the cable modem.

In all my troubleshooting I did try completely powering off the modem and removing the battery. I then powered down the pc and the router.
Apparently this will force the modem to use the connected router or something like that because it now works :)

Thanks.
