  1. I'd grab the PA, IPS + factory calibrated. I'm not a big fan of TN panels. Never used a 120hz + monitor though.

It's a 5ms which is plenty fast enough. You would have a hard time telling with the naked eye the difference between 5ms and 1ms side by side. Most faster monitors are not IPS and I would always pick IPS over any speed of monitor. You could always get the EIZO Foris FS2333 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ASHTZYM/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00ASHTZYM&linkCode=as2&tag=b0b929-20 which is a combination of picture quality and speed but it's expensive. If you can't fit it into your budget I'd still get the PA248Q in a heart beat. You definitely won't regret it. :)

but then how come they say the VG248QE is a gaming monitor but not the PA248Q

im afried if the PA248Q is about editing or picture or movie or something

all id like is for gaming i always open my pc and open steam and play, no browsing the enternet no nothing :) only games

Things that have "gaming" as a selling point are just normal products that they are trying to hype up. Kind of like "gaming" keyboards (ones without macros and leds).

The PA is IPS and the VG is TN. IPS has much better colors and extremely better viewing angles. If you don't want to spend the extra money, don't. Know what you are buying before hand and weigh the benefits/cons of both technologies.

I switched from an acer TN to an asus ips (I forget the model number but it was an entry level IPS @ 200 bucks) and I can safely say I should have done so sooner.
