Hey guys,

i'm having trouble choosing between a i5 4670k or a i7 4770, as the title suggests,

basically i'm choosing between:
a i5 unlocked for OC-ing and an SLI-capable mobo to go with it,
or a locked i7 with a normal mobo, but i get Hyperthreading.

my primary concern is having it to last a couple of years (4-6years)

if i would be using it for gaming (mobas, upcoming fps games, rts games), and sideline work, (architectural renderings and some video walkthroughs) and would be using programs like autodesk revit, photoshop, sketchup, lumion, vray, etc.

gpu would be a GTX 760

i was already decided on the i5 option, but i don't want to make any decisions without consulting the community first. the main problem i had on going ahead with the i5 unlocked one, was that i felt i was too biased on gaming, as alot of people said that in most games, HT becomes obsolete, and that the i5 is the best option, and that although Hyper threading would help me, i wont be rendering 24/7, as it will only be a sideline of mine,

Help me pleaseee! :))

Intel Core i5-4670k Gaming
Intel Core i74770k Rendering
Go for an Intel Core i5-4670k, you can add a graphics card later and you can overclock your processor to avoid bottlecks, even tough you don't need to overclock if you don't plan to SLI/Crossfire.

do you mean that overclocking would bottleneck my current GPU?
and how long would that 4670k last me without sli and overclocking?

it will not bottleneck your current graphics card and an intel core i5-4670k will last you about five years and it will last you longer if you overclock it later with a new much more powerful graphics card than an nvidia geforce gtx 760

as much as possible, i would not want to shell out that much extra cash for an i7 4770k, difference is just too high. :(
