Hi my computer is having trouble booting, it gets stuck and stays on the asus motherboard screen. its says press del key to access bios setting but i cant even do that.

weird thing is if i disconnect the ssd drive, which windows 7 is installed on it then allows be to press the del key and enter into bios screen, and looks to boot better going onto a screen saying its looking for a drive.

is it possible that the ssd drive needs replacing? its not that old so seems strange. have played around resetting cmos, trying to update bios. but still the same. problem seemed to begin when running windows update, then clicking restart but it never properly restarted.

soo cant get passed asus screen with ssd attached

motherboard is a asus p9x79.
any ideas on what i can try?

Solution
Make sure your BIOS setting are right (AHCI, Sata Mode etc). SSD could just be starting to fail which is unusual. Try a different SATA port on motherboard as a test.
OK now it is narrowed down to an issue with the SSD. If the Bios settings are not set correctly it can potentially cause an SSD to act this way. Make sure that in the bios you have the "SATA OPERATION MODE" set to "AHCI" and that the "Onboard SATA Controller" is set to Enabled/On. Yes this was already suggested but you did not respond to Haynesr07's post to confirm it is set properly. If these are set incorrectly then it can cause the issue you are experiencing.

EDIT: If they are confirmed to be set correctly then the SSD is bad.
