Converting RJ45 input to RJ11 input

I bought an ADSL router (RJ11 jack as input), but my internet cable is a RJ45 jack. I searched the internet and came to know about RJ45 to RJ11 adapters. I want to know whether the adapter will work or not, because a lot of people on the internet said that one cannot convert digital signals to analog signals and that it will need a different router.

Thanks for answering. But still I will give the adapter a try. Will inform if it works, though I am 99% hopeless.
