Arma 2 CO DayZ

Just a question about my specs and what could help my FPS.
Im getting nearly unplayable FPS in DayZ 15-23 sometimes if lucky 30FPS Specs are below
Mobo: Asus rog crosshair V formula
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE 3.4 stock cooler
GPU: MSI TwinFrozr III HD7950 3GB boost ed.
PSU: 600Watt Thermaltake
HDD: 1Tb HDD as primary OS and gaming HDD no raid or not another HDD/SDD
RAM: Kingston Hyperx Blu 2 x 4gb 1600 it was underclocked at 1333 but i got it to 1600, that was because of the CPU.
Case nxzt phantom huge tower

so my rig stays clean, i use advanced system care daily and defrag daily.
skyrim, bf3 all runs great, but arma 2 co is a different game been playing along time and have had smooth FPS. i know the settings in my video options like the back of my hand. my question what can i do to get better results. i thought about selling cpu and mobo and upgrading to intel I5 or just upgrading CPUs. im at a loss right now so id like your opinions! thanks in advance for any help! i will check thread daily.

Havent you heard of disk wear? Defragging daily can decrease performance, because it decreases disk life. And you should consider upgrading your CPU.

ARMA is pretty CPU heavy but the engine it runs on is also craptastic. I am currently playing ARMA 3 and the more people/AI in game and on screen make your fps drop really fast. I've monitored my resources while playing and usually only use 50% cpu usage and even lower gpu usage but with 25-30 fps. The game if fun but just doesn't run that great.

no it doesnt run great but better than arma 2, this has just recently started to happen, lagging, and fps issue maybe the HDD but the phenom II x4 is stll a decent CPU and i really havent seen anything AMD has thrown out there that makes me want to buy it because of no real gain in FPS. if i upgraded it would be to intel because thats about the only gains that i see in benchmarks, i maybe wrong but vishera, bulldozer the new APUs are not that solid, i have looked through benchmarks and all i do is game on my pc. correct me if im wrong, is there any CPU upgrade from AMD that i will see some real gains in performance?

sorry to bump but this launch option helped alot, under properties launch code

"-nosplash -high -noPause -world=empty -exThreads=3"
you can do this in sixupdater as well in settings, also maxmem 2047 is hard coded. ingame set video memory to default inside video options advanced. still looking ofr a viable CPU uprgrade!
if your having this problem try to do this.
