So I currently have a ideapad Y580 with a 660m and I want to build a desktop that has significantly more graphics power than the one I have now. I was wondering, how much of a difference is there between a 660m and say... A 760 GTX? I don't want to spend a ton of money only to get something that's in the same league. Speaking of league. Would a 760 GTX be able to play League of Legends at 1080p with everything (including shadows) turned up to max and get 60fps even in high intensity scenes? The 660m drops to about 20fps in those situations.

There is really no comparison there. The desktop counterpart is always much more powerful than the laptop one.

That gives you a rough idea. The 660m is about the same as a 9800 GTX. The 760 is 7 tiers above it. You will notice a night and day difference. To answer your questions about LOL, yes it will run it then well.

gtx 660m is almost 1/4 performance of gtx 660 and gtx 760 is almost the same performance as gtx 680 so yeah, it wouldnt be a problm to max out lol 60+fps...

A reference i found was a comparason site putting it up against the HD 7950, which the 760 beats. one review pulled into the comparason is for the 7950 with the 7950 card playing League of Legends at 300 fps....soooo, i don't think you'd ever get close to dropping down to 60. the 760 is a wonderfully capable card:

(the specific part i referenced is the review under the pixel rate comparison.)
