I think your Video card is quite weak relative to a lot of the other pieces in that build.

I think your powersupply is overkill.

I would recommend looking at this thread. gaming PCs built on a $1000 budget. Thread is less than 2 days old.

www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1757445/bestconfigs-budget-intel-based-gaming.html

Honestly you can get a nice video card for $250. I maxed out the budget on the build I suggested. You could very easily be happy with a 2GB 7870 or 660 Ti video card. I would look at the power supplies being recommended in that budget build because they're going to power the type of parts you'll end up getting.

16GB of RAM is fine, but I think 8 is plenty.

Sorry I didn't realize you had an i7 CPU in there for $320. That's massive overkill. I'd recommend the i5 3570K for a gaming PC.

Other than that it is in decent shape.

Okay I have swapped out a few things to further match your suggestions.

ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM

DIYPC Adventurer-9601G Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case with 5 x 120mm Green Fan and 1 x USB3.0

Western Digital WD Black WD5003AZEX 500GB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

APEVIA ATX-AS680W-BL 680W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready Power Supply

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-2133C9Q-16GXL

ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I53570K

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible with Intel

SAPPHIRE 100351SR Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card OC with Boost

I tried to look around a bit more on the motherboard and graphics card but they seem to have the best reviews wherever I looked. How is this build now?

The only thing I'm not sure about is the quality of that power supply. Apevia is either a horrible brand or an excellent brand. I can't remember which. I know Corsair or Seasonic make great quality power supplies.

1.) PSU is Overkill as many people said
2.) Seagate Barracuda 1TB (1TB is needed IMO) its cheaper then the WD Black 1TB amd faster then the Blues, etc, cheaper then the blues to. (on amazon they are)

Compatibility Notes

G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory operating voltage of 1.65V exceeds the Intel Ivy Bridge CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum.

I got this as an error......

I would recommend asking for a specific motherboard/CPU/RAM compatibility on the RAM forum. Most stuff should work together but you've added some RAM that typically requires some overclocking. I have DDR3-1600 in my system.
