Freezing issue- Possibly compatibility?

A while ago my computer would freeze while doing high intensive tasks like gaming.
I replaced my motherboard, which seemed to fix the problem on my GTX 650 Ti. However, when I upgraded my graphics card to an HD 7950, the same problem returned.

I went to my local PC repair shop, and they told me it was probably an issue with chipset incompatibility and that there was nothing I could do about it. Any solutions or input is appreciated.

Specs:
CPU: i5-3470
Motherboard: Gigabyte B75M-D3H
RAM: 8GB DDR3
PSU: Corsair 500 watt

Crazy, how could that be a compatibility issue with the HW....... Have you monitored your temp, clock speed, and voltages while gaming? My first thought is that your system might be underclocking something while it's under full load.

Furmark says the following for the GPU
mem: 1250 MHz
core: 1000 MHz
HWMonitor said the CPU was at 1.111 Volts, while the GPU was at 1.125 volts
Also, it usually freezes between the temperatures of 65-75

Another side note: there is a sound coming from the speakers and the computer which sounds like static, or something. I noticed that each frame shown produces one "tick" sound.

The freeze that occurred while I was monitoring those voltages happened within seconds of starting Furmark, which could be why it was so low. Also, I'm a little bit unsure of drawing even more power since my PSU is already the minimum requirement for the 7950.
