First of all, I lapped before. I lapped a C2Q once and a I7 920. Only difference was that the heatsink was a watercool block.

I never lapped a heatsink. Exspecially something heavier then a water cool block. Thus a megahalem is quite alot heavier.

But this is a problem:ouch:
How do you keep the base straight? Regardless that I have a mirror surface I cant keep the heatsink straight.

Regardless of where I hold the heatsink with some gloves (because of edges) it always tumbles at some point. I googled alot but either everybody has secret working methods or nobody has tried lapping a megahalem as of yet or a similar bulky heatsink.

Do people have some tips or complete workarounds?
Ofcourse the goal of lapping is to get the surface straight. I don't see how that would happen if the heatsink would tumble 100 times in the process. Because it tumbles I'm also afraid that one side can detach from the sandpaper surface when moving over the sandpaper like everytime I try to move it across.

I tried lapping the megahalem for like 60 seconds. And with every move over the sandpaper surface a strengthening feeling inside actually made me feel I was worsening the surface instead of bettering it.

And that moment brought me here.

I'll be awaiting your suggestions
