Anywhere you go will have tax in person, I only would use amazon, tiger direct, or new egg. In no real order there. If you have a local store that works too, like Fry's but online those are where you should go.

Internet shopping is tax free. Most of the time.
Check to see if you have a Microcenter around your area, you could save some money buying a few components there.

http://www.microcenter.com/site/stores/default.aspx

You can combo any i5/7 3rd gen with any Z77 mobo. Same with i5/7 4th gen and Z87.

Internet shopping is only tax-free if the online store does not have a physical presence (e.g. a warehouse) in your state, although the parasites are trying to change that, to the detriment of small online businesses everywhere. For example, Newegg has a warehouse in Memphis, TN; since I also live in TN, I pay state extortion when shopping there. Fortunately, I've decided their customer service, selection, and generally decent prices make up for it.

It's not extortion - is your roads, schools, firehouses!

No, that would be fee-for-service, and I don't have a problem with that. Unfortunately, a lot of it goes to giveaway programs which are of no value to me, therefor compelling me by force to pay for them is extortion.

In any case, political discussions should be conducted elsewhere. As for the best places to buy, you'll have to balance costs vs. benefits to decide on the best place. Sometimes, for things you might want to see first, that means a local store, even if the price is higher.
