Motherboard not detecting graphics card

First time builder here and I had everything almost ready to go when I noticed that I was plugged into my mobo hdmi and not into my graphics card hdmi. I checked through device manager to see if it was listed, but it wasn't, only the onboard was. I turned off my computer and switched to the graphics card (in PCIe Express 3.0 x16 - PCI Bus 1), but nothing came up on my screen. There's power running to it because I can see my fan spinning. I switched back to my mobo and my card still wasn't detected.

I tried installing drivers for the card from the HIS disk, but it looked like it kept skipping the install step and going straight for finish where it gave me some warnings and the ability to view log. I view log (after connecting to the Internet because I couldn't view it otherwise) and it said everything was fine and nothing was listed under errors.

I go into bios and set it to PEG. I try the card again and still nothing. I switch back to my mobo to see if I missed anything in bios, but nothing. I Che led device manager again, but still nothing.

I decided to try the card in the second PCIe Express 3.0 x16 which is the PCI bus 2 (has half the contacts of the first one and the third has half of second (this one) - does this mean anything? I assume it has something to do with a second card). I turn it on and it works. I check bios and its on auto instead of PEG where I left it. I check device manager and its listed under standard vga graphics adapter (I guess it changes after I install the drivers?). Cool, it seems like the vid card is working.

I switch the card back to the PCI bus 1, but it's back to nothing. My screen just goes into power save mode which tells me there is no signal from the card (like what it's been doing). I switch to the mobo and turned off the internal graphics this time(checked for a while on google and people said that that might be the problem). Well that must have been a mistake because after I restarted my computer, the mobo peripherals stopped working (HDMI, vga, USB, and I'm assuming etc.). Now I don't even have a picture from both the mobo or the card (monitor goes into power save mode).

Now I switch my vid card back to PCI Bus 2 to get a picture so I can enter bios. I switch back the onboard graphics to auto again (default), save, and reset again. I again try my mobo hdmi/vga and still nothing. I switch my vid card back to PCI Bus 1, but still nothing.

At this point I'm pretty mad, but I decide to clear CMOS to reset my bios just in case I accidentally hit something (I didn't, but just in case). Turned it on again, but nothing.

Done.

That was all last night. Today I thought about trying it once more before concluding that it was a bad mobo. I turn it on and, what do you know, it works. Sends me to a load optimized default page because I reset bios. I load up windows and check device manager, but still nothing.

Last night a friend recommended that I uninstall drivers for my card. So I tried doing that today. The only problem was that the disk said there was nothing to uninstall (just like I thought from earlier). I tried reinstalling and it would the same steps as when I initially installed along with the warning of errors without there being errors (forgot to mention that I tried getting the most recent drivers from their website). The weird thing is is that it tells me I'm up-to-date.

Tried the card again, but nothing.

I need help. I'm new, but I didn't think it was this hard to get a vid card to work properly. Maybe I'm doing it wrong and it's in the wrong spot or it's a bad mobo or something. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.

Couple questions: What psu do you have and do you have both 6pin pegs plugged into the gpu?

Don't use the drivers on the disc that comes with the card - go to amd and download the latest certified drivers. Also, make sure you have downloaded the current drivers from gigabyte for the m/b.

When you uninstall the HIS drivers, also download and run ccleaner to get rid of any leftover crud. Uninstall the CCC software also.

Once you have everything back to square one, remove the gpu and boot to the igpu in the intel. Load the updated m/b drivers and gpu drivers. Reboot and make sure it is working as it should. Then reinstall gpu, hook up the required 6pins and reboot.

Thanks for the reply.

I have a Rosewill Capstone 650 and both 6 pins are connected.

I have the most current drivers from gigabyte and the most current drivers for the card from HIS website (or so I thought. I downloaded them, but they do the same thing as the drivers for the disk do).

However, I can't uninstall the drivers for the card because it says that there is nothing to uninstall.

And I don't have the CCC. I don't know where I'm supposed to get that from unless its part of the installation of the drivers. It wasn't an option on the disk to download.

And by chance where do I get ccleaner from?

Another problem now.

I went to try and uninstall drivers, but, again, it told me there was nothing to install. I tried to install again, but this time it went to the install catalyst step. Once it got here, nothing happened and it just sat on my screen for an hour (while I posted my other response). I tried ending the program, but it said waiting to finish up. Again it sat there for awhile doing nothing. I ended the program and told me that it wasn't responding.

So now I tried to uninstall it it, but it just sits at a populating list screen. Nothing happens and I have to end the program because it becomes unresponsive.

I'm assuming there's an error somewhere now and I need to fix it. What should I do with this?

Tried renown loading it from AMD (again) and now it's hanging up/not responding in the analyzation stage saying "enumerating source media for installable packages." Can't get past this step now.

Download your gpu drivers HERE. The package also includes Catalyst Control Center (CCC).

Download ccleaner HERE.

Remove your gpu and run from your cpu onboard gpu. Download and install ccleaner and run. There is a tab to uninstall drivers and software - use that to uninstall the HIS drivers. Then run the registry cleaner portion of ccleaner. Reboot to be sure all is working with igpu. Download the AMD drivers/software. Shut down, install gpu, hook monitor to gpu and reboot. Install AMD drivers and CCC.

Rerun ccleaner (registry) to make sure there is no leftover garbage.

Tried it, but nothing has changed.

1. Shut down pc
2. Remove gpu
3. Reboot to onboard igpu
4. Use windows programs/features to uninstall any amd video drivers and amd software
5. Run ccleaner, click on tools icon and see if any amd drivers or software is listed under the programs to remove. If so, uninstall
6. In ccleaner, click cleaner icon, click analyze, click run cleaner
7. Reboot to onboard igpu.
8. If all is well, go HERE and download Catalyst Software Suite
9. Install catalyst (without gpu installed)
10. Shut down pc
11. Install gpu in pci e lane 1 - make sure it is firmly seated and both 6pin pegs are connected
12. Move monitor connection to gpu
13. Reboot

I'm having a very simular problem;

I've recently tried to update my old Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 Driver but failed to do so. I proceeded to uninstall the driver via device manager and restart my computer to then install the newest driver, but it stated that my only Display Adapters are my crossfired AMD HD 6800's (image below) and the Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 Driver shows up as an unknown device in the device manager. I then proceed to search various post for hours to find an answer, but was unsuccessful. I've tried installing it in all different ways, however the same types of error messages always appear during the process (as also shown below). My Motherboard is an AsRock z77 extreme4 with an integrated Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 Driver, but i also use my crossfired HD 6800 radeons (which are useless without intel VGA graphics working) and have an intel i7 processor, 4gb ram and windows 7 64bit.

I would highly appreciate it if anyone could help me out as i've been search and searching with no positive results so far.
Thank you for your time and help!

2 years later and Im having a similar problem. But it goes even further, Im running a 1070 sc and Ryzen 1600. So I have no integrated graphics, can't so much as post without a graphics card. My 1070 is lit up and fans running while booting up then the fans go off and a red light on my motherboard appears telling me my graphics card isn't detected
