Your Monitor Resolution: 1680 x 1050 (will upgrade to 1920 x 1080)

Additional Comments: I know that I need a CPU cooler, I am going to ask for either a 212 EVO or Raijintek Themis as a gift, same with Keyboard. Not buying an SSD until at least next year (in light of recent news about 3D storage). Not buying GPU(s) until I can get deals (i.e. Boxing Day). PSU is meant to last (as well as overclock up to 2 video cards and CPU), and modularity is no issue since it is in a case with lots of room for cable management (Azza Spartan CSAZ-102E). Case already purchased (not to be included in budget). I prefer parts that are blue/black, but I can stand other colours (except yellow, orange) if the price/performance is there. I also included a fan filter for the PSU and intake fans (2), and wondering the true necessity (my room is kind of dusty, but I will start to clean it regularly, also I have a long-haired miniature dachshund).

Solution
Swap out your HDD for a Seagate Baracuda 1TB Hard Drive, its faster then the WD Blue and cheaper then the WD Black, its cheaper then the Blue also (on Amazon it is)

Looks good all around. That PSU is more than up to task for SLI/Crossfire. You could safely drop down to the 700W range unless you plan to dual up some really high-end GPUs. No problem having a little extra capacity though.

Side note: If you want some Blue RAM this is nice stuff, though maybe a bit overkill.

I had heard that Seagate drives are not as reliable?

I have a seagate drive in my machine. I built my gaming rig yesterday. Its been doing me good so far! :D

Both are fine. The performance difference between them is pretty low ( depending on generation and model. ) I'd get the one you can find the best deal on.

The WD Caviar Blue is 76 and the Seagate Barracuda is 73. I guess I will go with the Seagate since it is slightly cheaper/faster.

Edit: The difference is 20 cents+ tax (23 cents).

I was thinking more like SLI 760s or 770s. I also want to wait to see what comes out in the fall (if anything) from AMD and/or NVidia.

Buy the Barracuda off of Amazon, its 64.99 :)

That's a pretty big power jump between the two. A 760 draws ~155W at load while a 770 does ~215W. Dual cards means a difference of 120W. Also the 760 uses two 6-pin cables, the 770 uses one 8- and one 6-pin, so plan your PSU cables accordingly.

A good 750W will be fine for 770s, and you can drop into the 600W range for 760s.

Err. I forgot to mention I am going to keep the PSU probably for my next build as well (if reasonable in 5 years time). Also, the specific PSU i picked has 2x 6 pin, 2x6+2 pin connectors. But if you can recommend a good 750-800w PSU with a SeaSonic OEM (or just good internals) please do. Also, I was kind of unclear, but when you overclock the GPU does it not increase its power consumption?

Edit: Getting the WD drive purely because I will probably not notice the speed in daily use, and 2 year warranty instead of 1.

Don't get the ram with the huge heat sinks. You would be better off with low profile ram, then you won't have to deal with Cpu Cooler fitment issues.

And NCIX is having some sweet deals on 7970s right now, they are about $350 USD right now.

No need to build a new system in 5 years, just upgrade your parts in ur build! (Gaming=GPU Upgrade | Editing= CPU Upgrade | School Work: No Upgrade needed

Yes, OCing does increase power draw, but I think you'll still be within bounds.

If you're planning on having this PSU for a while, I'd get an efficient one. I know 80 Gold is pricier, but if you're using it for five years, it may be worth it.

Here are a few to consider ( it seems XFX has some good deals going on right now. )

I am thinking of getting the EVGA one based upon this review: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/EVGA/NEX750G/10.html

Edit 3:
Going for the Rosewill Capstone one. I am buying this system withint he next 30 minutes.
