This is my first computer build and i have been having alot of trouble. First i got it all built and into the case but when i turned my computer on everything would power up but i wouldnt get display or post beep and then i couldn't turn the computer back off by holding down the power button. Then i did some searching on this website to figure out what i could do and i made a breadboard but when i turned it on i think i messed something up. I touched the screwdriver i was using to short the computer to the other pins and now i cant get it to turn on that way again and finally came to toms hardware for help!
My components are:
GIGABYTE GA-A55M-DS2 FM1 AMD A55
AMD A8-3870K Unlocked Llano 3.0GHz Radeon 6550
Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
CORSAIR CX600M 600W ATX12V
Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

Im a big nub so please help!

have you already tested to see if it works with another power supply? sorry if i have to ask that again.

when something short circuits, you either hear like a pop, a fizzing sound, or a sparking sound. it usually goes unnoticed. and as for that weird smell. does it smell like chemicals?

i know what i said sounds dumb.

but your mobo and cpu are compatible, so is the ram. and the psu is a good psu. the only things that could be the problem here would be either the motherboard or the cpu. but if it were the cpu, the motherboard would give some beep codes (if you have the speaker connected to it)

but since you said there is no post beep, then its likely that the motherboard is the problem.

i dont think it did ended up short circuiting because i didnt hear a noise and i was having this problem before i thought that happened, no i didnt test it with another psu ill have to go to a local computer repair shop if i want to do that but the problem is i cant drive so i think ill just order a new mobo because i couldnt see anything wrong with cpu but anyways thanks for time and consideration
