Much searching and reading and still no clue...

Pretty confident my setup will run a triple at least so-so (AMD 1090T, Radeon 7970Ghz @ 1100/1500, 8gb ram, win7 64bit)

My current monitor is a BenQ 24" with max res of 1900x1200. I am wanting to put a 17" monitor on each side of it to make a triple monitor setup (limited space).

I am looking at the ASUS VB Series VB178T 17-Inch, which has a max res of 1280x1024.

Will the three of these play well together?

I don't expect HD gaming but the whole point is to play BF3 and similar games with the tri setup.

Thanks,
Rik

All of those monitors would be good, as long as you arent trying eyefinity. If you are only playing the game on one, with the other 2 as secondary it would be good. That card can run more than 3 monitors so that is no issue. If you want eyefinity all the screens need to be the same size and resolution.

Thanks for the reply... Yea, that's what I was afraid of. Apparently I could still force eyefinity, but it would be limited to the lowest res, which is 1280x1024. I just tried playing at that res about almost had to uninstall before I could get out to change it back to at least 1900x1200.

I am on a budget, but these <ViewSonic VX2270SMH-LED 22-Inch> might fit into that budget. If you (Gam3r01) or anyone else have a better suggestion in the same price range, any help is appreciated.

Good call, thanks! You're correct- EXACT same price, same res and the rest of the specs are better and it has a modestly better set of reviews.

All set- Thanks Gam3r01, I appreciate the input!

HA! I hear ya man! I'm going to have to turn these vertical, which means I have to buy a tri stand for them which will be at least another $60+. Thats why I was "hoping" to stack to 17"s next to the 24". I could fit those if I angled the 17s out just a little. I have about 45" of horizontal space and about 20" of vertical. My plan was to turn the 24" vertical and have to 17s horizontal. Guess that one was a pipe dream.

If you know of any similar monitors in the same price that you mentioned that have a TILT stand, that would be A-MAZING! and even if they were a few bucks more, it would save or equal the cost of the tri stand... I REALLY want one BIG screen lol

OK so I dropped in the monitor you mentioned into my wish list. While I was searching around some more, I found it's brother, the Acer S231HL BBID 23-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor. It's an inch smaller but it has an HDMI input as well whereas the 24" only has VGA and DVI.

The 23" is $35 more on Newegg. They're the same price on Amazon. Other than trading 1" of screen for an HDMI, is there any other major difference I'm missing? Im leaning towards the HMDI since none of my last 3 video cards even had VGA output.

Thoughts?

So it may be then... Just to bust my own bubble- I looked at the $500+ monitors and few of them had HDMI and almost ALL still have VGA/D-Sub WTF?!?!

Sooo I got them in today. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk279/rik756/IMG_4632_zpsd7692c34.jpg

BUT- Not I cannot get all three to work. I've tried 1@HDMI, 1@DVI and the third at DVI to minidisplay port via Active converter but still no love. The converted one ALWAYS goes to 640x480 and windows shows it as a non-pnp monitor instead of recognizing like the other two.

The converter has active written on it and I read that at least ONE of the monitor has to be connected via display port. I've tried rearranging the connectors and still nothing. Any ideas ?

Hmm, the converters should be working. What you can try is to start it up with one monitor plugged in, then plug in a second and reboot. Right click the desktop and hit properties and extend desktop to this monitor. Then reboot once more and plug in the third and do it all again. That is the only thing I can think that is going wrong. If that dosent work try opening another thread for more help.

Turns out I had some folded pins on the DVI cable going to the adapter so it wasn't getting all the data it should have been. Straigtened out some pins and BAM!! 69" of triple monitor love!!
