I have just upgraded my system to a radeon fx 4130 black edition and an asrock 980de3/u3s3 board with 4gb of hyper blue kingston ram. I downloaded soldier front 2 from steam and after 2 games my fps go down and down and down....is it because my psu is only 380W? and if so what PSU would you recommend for under $70?

The speed of your processor equals it's multiplier times the motherboard's clock. So what you do is increase the clock of your motherboard, keep in mind this also increases the clock speed of your RAM as well. You can further decrease the clock speed of your RAM but doing so may decrease your performance, it's ideal to keep a 1:1 ratio to the motherboard clock. Increase the speed in small increments while booting up each time to make sure it's still stable. If the computer shuts off or doesn't perform...

I mean, FX-4130, along w/ FX-x1xx/x2xx CPUs which based on bulldozer architecture, is considered to be a setback of AMD because such CPUs performs quite bad in gaming because such architecture is insufficient and has low performance in gaming. That's why I recommend FX-4350/6300 CPUs instead because it repairs most of the problems of bulldozer architecture (they utilize pilediver instead) and improve 20-30% performance per clock. By using 32nm process they finally become successors of Phenom II CPUs (Bulldozer FX- 4/6 cores CPUs performs even worse than 4/6 cores Phenom II CPUs respectively).

Also maybe your RAM isn't enough too. Check the CPU and memory usage in gaming but I recommend changing your CPU to pilediver ones.

i already bought this one in a combo at microcenter...is there any way to just overclock it which would help? i have a water cooler hooked up to it and it runs in the teens when idle and high 20's when playing a game

If the computer shuts off or doesn't perform optimally then increase the voltage to each of the components. Also, if you go to high and the computer will not POST then reset the BIOS to it's default settings. This is just a quick sketch to give you an idea of what you're doing, I would read a guide online before trying anything.

What I do is overclock using both multiplier and CPU BUS speed (or the motherboard speed). This way you won't push the CPU BUS speed way beyond the stable speed of your RAM. (as mentioned, increasing BUS speed will automatically increase RAM speed - RAM overclocking.)

The default CPU BUS is 200mhz. I increase it to 210mhz and then add 1 to multiplier.

The increase is gradual 5 mhz BUS and 0.5 step multiplier for each iteration. Note that BUS and multiplier adjustment should NOT be done simultaneously. Adjust the BUS first. Reboot. Then the multiplier. Reboot.
