Greetings! I am about to purchase a video card but Im not entirely sure how they work and If my graphics card is compatible with my setup. \

I currently have a mostly stock Hp Pavilion a1720 n http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c00837320]

it says it has a Pci express X16 slot and that it's open. The card I am looking to buy is this one

http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Profile-PCI-Express-R6450-MD1GD3-LP/dp/B004X6ABTM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1376000911&sr=8-3&keywords=HD6450]

And so I would like to know if these are compatible (don't worry about power usage) if not I would really appreciate suggestions for something comparable in price/performance that is compatible

Thanks in advance and if there's any other info I need to provide I am more than happy to do so

EDIT: Thanks for all the help! It's been resolved, I appreciate it!

Thank you very much!! Honestly I just want to play something like skyrim or battlefield 3 on low settings with good fps, as long as I can play them with decent fps I dont care too much about quality (even lowest settings is fine) Im open to alternatives but I don't have much more to spend than the card I linked to. And if it's much stronger I might have to get a replacement power supply aswell

I could probably spring for that if it's significantly better, thanks

I appreciate all the suggestions a lot but unless somewhere has it cheaper than amazon that's a bit too much, I don't want to dump too much money into the computer as it's REALLY old and I'll have to get a new one before long (everything on it is outdated). Thank you though!
