Graphics Card Won't Seat

I just got all the parts needed to build my first PC, however, my GTX 650 TI won't fit in because the motherboard is too far back and the chassis slot won't allow the GPU to go any deeper to seat properly. I have a Roswill Thor 2 for a chassis and an ASRock 990FX Extreme 3 motherboard. Had the same problem with an other GPU that was about a third the size, so I sent it back and got this monster that isn't big enough, or is something wrong with the build? Could I have done something wrong? Did I choose too big a chassis or was I for some crazy reason supposed to use to stand offs? Could the cassis be the problem or the motherboard? I feel bummed since this is my first build and it is getting frustrating for me as I want to get it working as I'm sure you could imagine.

Thanks,
Me

I think that's pretty self evident from what I wrote, but I'll say it again. Roswill Thor 2, EVGA GTX 650 TI.
Was I supposed to place the GPU onto the mobo first and then place the mobo into the chassis?

Hang on, did you say you didn't use the stand offs? You need to use the stand offs to prevent the motherboard from coming into direct contact with the case, if you don't you will get a short circuit. If you didn't use the stand offs, then that would explain why you are having problems fitting an expansion card, as the motherboard is further back than intended.

I did use stand offs, I was just being sarcastic in mentioning using two stand offs. Well I went through the extra trouble of taking out the mobo and then placing the GPU, seated it in all the way but heard no click. I put the mobo back in and nothing showed up on the screen. All the lights and fans connected to the mobo worked fine, the CPU fan spun but nothing came on the screen. I used a dvi to vga converter as I don't have a modern monitor. The GPU fan spun fine and everything else seems to work. Could the mobo be dead? How could I find out if it is dead?
