Hi, i really need to get a new graphics card but i am wondering if my motherboard is compatible with a GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 650 Ti OC 1GB GDDR5 Express 3.0 Graphics Card.

My current Specs are:

ACPI x64- Based Pc
Gateway FX 6860 series
Windows 7, Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz, 8Gb of ram 64-bit

and my current graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 5700 series.

And it would also be of much help if you have any other grpahics card suggestions that are under $180. But i would really like to know if the graphics card that i put above is compatible. Thank you! This is the card i currently want http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4360#ov

Any Motherboard with support any Graphics card as long as they have compatible slots. Now, if you want to do things like run dual cards etc.. your mobo needs to support these features, also some cards require power to be plugged into them meaning you need enough wattage for your graphics card along with other components in your computer.

As for a suggestion I've had my eye on this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150612 I just like how it looks it's sleek they have the same card with a bigger heat sink on it making it two slots.

As for advice... make sure whatever you choose doesn't need external power because your power supply might not be able to support it.. unless you dont mind upgrading your power supply as well.

and how do i check if my power supply can support the graphics card i want?

If your power supply has two or more six pin connectors then there's a good chance it will support it. Because that card only needs one six pin connector then it's most likely not going to require a lot of power to run it. You get some power from the slot and you get some from the six pin connector. Usually the cards specifications will say what it needs for amps from the power supplies rails.

The 650Ti says it recommends a 450w PSU with at least one six pin connector.
What do you have for a power supply?

when you look up the details and info on the cards it should say how much power is suggested to use .... for the most part as long as you buy something that doesn't need power plugged into it you should be fine and not need to worry about your PSU
