HP DC 5000 mt RAM not recognized

I got this computer (HP DC5000MT) with no ram or hard drive. So i picked up a used hard drive and ram all of which(including the computer) was to be working before I received it. But when I installed the ram it just beeps 5 time at me which according to ( http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00066037/c00066037.pdf )means that the ram is not being recognized. THe ram I got is 1 gb DDR 266 MHz eec . I tried all the slots just to be safe but It still just beeps.

Does anyone have any ideas what is happening?

Your ram is slower than any of the ram shown in the specs; 1 GB/333 MHz FSB SDRAM or 1 GB/400 MHz FSB SDRAM. It seems likely that the system does not like that slow of ram. Not sure but it seems to me to be the probable issue

Maybe the above is the issue. But I do not believe so. I believe you were trying to say that you have "1GB DDR ECC" memory when you say "s 1 gb DDR 266 MHz eec". If that's the case, then you must know the memory which you are trying to install is incompatible with your system.

Your system supports only PC2700/3200 Non-ECC DDR DIMMs. Try the below to get an idea of what type of memory your system supports. Also if you are okay with the site maybe you can order it from there or try Kingston or Crucial.
