I live in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico and my electricity bill has been rising. As I said in the title the cost is 27 cents. I made a calculation supposing my computer is on and running 12 hours a day for 25 days each month. The wattage I used is based on the newegg wattage calculator.*
$0.27/kWh * 24hr * 25d * 0.457kW = 37.017 or $37.02 per month
If I had an 55w i3 it would be close to $30 and a 65w i5 would be $32. So after a year a i5 4570S would represent savings of approximately $60. I was thinking about upgrading my CPU next year.
Now, my question is, is it worth it to spend more money on a i5 "S" and mobo or just a Steamroller 8-core with my old mobo? Also, since I spend more time browsing and doing college stuff on my PC and I want to use less energy, is an "S" CPU good enough for gaming? Would you recommend a "S" CPU to someone?
