Hi all,

I managed to buy a new card after my other one went fubar.
However im benchmarking them and im getting below avg. frames.
metro last light maxed out at 2560x1600 looks like 15fps.
ira tech demo at 2560x 1600 is 20fps
and crisis 3 maxed is about 19fps.
Any ideas? Hopefully I don't have another faulty card or something.

specs:

i7 3960x oc to 4.6ghz
64gb ram
gtx titan
1500watt psu
asrock e 11 mobo
ocz vector ssd

please help thnx

What do you mean looks like 15fps? it either is or it isn't?

Download MSI Afterburner and Unigine Heaven benchmark.

Run Heaven with MSI open in the background.

Report back with Heaven score (run it on the setting you use i.e resolution and game quality settings).

And also report back MSI Afterburner max numbers for .........

GPU usage:

Core clock:

Memory clock:

Memory MB:

This will tell me exactly what's going on with your card, take 10mins to do, cheers.

spec:
windows nt (wtf)

settings:

d3d11
2560x1600 8xaa full screen
preset custom
quality: ultra
tessellation: extreme

temps rose to 70 C

I couldn't check msi afterburner as I had unigine running in fullscreen.

Anyone know why I'm only getting 30fps in far cry3 maxed out, I use to get no less than 60 fps with 2 gtx 580s!?

Yeah but all you have to do is look at MSI after the Heaven test and it'll show you in red writing what the Max numbers were while you running the bench test.

That would be useful because it will detail what your GPU is doing, please do it one more time and report what the MSI is showing.

64 fps on that level of testing though isn't horrendous mind you, but yes I see what you mean, I'd expect a bit more from a GTX Titan.

Please run it again and report the Max MSI Afterburner details I asked for, that will show me if your GPU is running at it's optimum level.

ok so I ran the unigine benchmark again which came worst btw.

msi ab results:

temp 75c
gpu usage 99%
fan speed 80%
core clock 993mhz
memory clock 3005mhz
memory usage 2020mb

Okay that's interesting, here are the official specs ........

"The GeForce GTX Titan core is clocked at 837 MHz, with a GPU Boost frequency of 876 MHz, and 6.00 GHz memory, churning out 288 GB/s of memory bandwidth."

Well lets start ........

temp 75c - Normal
gpu usage 99% - No bottleneck from the CPU
fan speed 80% - Normal
core clock 993mhz - could use being OC I would have thought?
memory clock 3005mhz - Seems like a decent number.
memory usage 2020mb - You used 2GB during that test, that's an optimum usage for these benches.

Last thing I want you to do before I give my final opinion.

Look in MSI Afterburner, what is your Core clock and Memory clock at? as in the green sliders whats the number on the end? not the performance graph the actual base Mhz its supposed to be at stock?

Finally run a Heaven bench mark with these settings.

Resolution: 1328- 780p

AAx: Off

Tessalation: Off

Quality: High

Run that so I can compare your fps to my card, I know these settings inside and out so this score (not the points but the FPS) will tell me a great deal.

This is the last test.

same benchmark as before

results msi ab in green at end:

power 8%

gpu temp 54C

gpu usage 1%

fan 80%

core clock: 324mhz

mem clock: 324mhz

memory usage 450mb

will run the low spec benchmark soon

Ok dude but one thing I needed in MSI on the left hand side you've got two green bars one for Core Clock and one for Memory clock, at the end of the bar are numbers in a green box in white writing, what are they saying numbers wise please?

(Not in the right hand graph table)

OK so I did a benchmark with the settings you told me:

fps: 180.5
score :4547
min fps :15.2 (wtf)
max fps 312.6

Cool, I'd like the clock numbers as well if you can from what I just posted, only from the left had panel though not the graph on the right, thanks as a final diagnosis.

But I can tell you from the results you just posted compared to my stock HD 7850 that the score you got is pretty damn great.

My 7850 get's 75 fps and overclocked to a 7870 spec I get 85 fps so for you to get a score of 180 fps is in exact conjunction with where you should be on those settings.

The minimum 15 fps your grumbling about just means that at some point in the test even for a split second your frames went down to 15, that in your case would probably happen like mine does when the screen goes black for a second and moves on to a different picture that's all.

The 180 fps is your average score and that is awesome, your max at 300+fps also means your card is operating pretty much at optimum level as did your GPU usage 99% also point to.

I don't think you have any problems at all, have you checked for a driver update?

yh I've updated the latest drivers (removed older ones using driver sweeper and did a clean install of 7 series gtx titan drivers.
why am I getting such low fps on high res?
far cry is now <30 instead of 60>
is it faulty?

But when you say 30 fps it can't be staying at that? it must go higher / lower?

No it doesn't seem faulty at all, what's the max fps your getting on Crysis 3?

http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/NVIDIA-GeFo...

At the bottom of this chart below, go to the last table it is for Ultra settings and it quotes an average of 31 fps for the titan on Crysis 3 ...... there's nothing wrong with your card.

far cry 3 27-31fps
should be 60+.
crisis 3 maxed out is only 18-22fps
Something isn't right.

But the above links to actual benchmark tests show that it is perfectly in line with previous tests, I'd lower your settings, that game is very demanding.

Here's some more ...... all saying Ultra or very high settings being 30 fps.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-780-per...

I'd say your results are off by about 8-10 frames? not exactly a deal breaker considering your not using the exact same build or settings the tests are.

lol try 50+ frames below expected.
my gtx 580s never dropped below 60 frames in far cry3.
What do I need to do.
?
there has to be a way.

That's what you expected but the trial results in all those tables are close to the results your getting, plus the numbers of your GPU performance don't show any problems in it functioning.

Maybe you should try overclocking it?

I know its a bit of a kicker because you've bought a Titan so expect rocket performance (so would I really) but your Heaven tests scores were very good, spot on actually so I don't know what else to suggest?
