Hi all,

Ages ago I built my PC, and currently have a AMD Phenom II X4 840 3.2GHz.

After upgrading my GPU to a 7870 I feel that my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU as I did a CPU stress test on Shogun 2 and it came off less than satisfactory.

I want to upgrade to a Intel Core I5 3570 3.40 GHz (gets much higher scores on everything) but I don't know how to see if it will be compatible with my current motherboard since I bought the CPU/Mobo as a package deal. How can I tell if a new Intel CPU will be compatible? Or perhaps, other ways to find out what make/model my mobo is?

Thanks

Seriously... Your motherboard probably is a AM3 one, So it will only work with AM3 compatible CPUs. The 3570 works on 1155 motherboards only. Intel with Intel, AMD with AMD. AM3 is a socket for AMD CPUs and 1155 is a socket for Intel CPUs. I hope that was a bit more clear.
