Socket 1150 & Corsair Cooler H100i (Not Compatible) Need Help

Purchased Gigabtye GA - Z87X-UD5H Socket 1150, for Intel i7 decided to install Corsair Cooler H100i by all accounts it seemed a good unit.

But when I went to install nothing fitted, not to sure what to do, any suggestions.

Perhaps I am ahead of Corsair.... lol

No idea David, the plate supplied does not match the holes on the motherboard.

Just been reading Corsairs compatibility list for the product..... 1150 is not mentioned, bummer

I know it is hard to believe, will try Customer service. I was thinking of using the Standoff Screws and putting a nut on the other side of the motherboard ..... no Corsair doesn't supply any nuts.

Hi everyone,

Guess what I have since found on the Corsair Website that 1150 socket is compatible.... with the Cooler H100i amazing not to sure how they expect it to fit, or what parts are needed to complete installation. Before we presume it is possible perhaps we should get Corsair to explain how it is achieved.

Well, your cooler comes with a manual telling you the proper screws or nuts for your socket. If there is nothing on 1150, then use the 1155 ones. And, youtube is full of videos showing you how to mount that cooler on your CPU.

You sure you used the backplate for Intel sockets and not the one for AMD or something like that?

Also, could you maybe post a picture of what exactly is not fitting?

Hi, checked it all thoroughly before I started, I've learnt the hard way... the bracket for the Intel does not match the motherboards holes, no matter which way it is applied. Checked AMD just in case no go. Perhaps I have old stock or a odd motherboard. I did manage to bend the bracket and make it fit, found some 3mm nuts and attached it. So far so good at least it is working. The i7 chip came with its own fan, so I am going to take it all apart and see if the OEM fan fits the motherboard. Will post results. I should point out that I live a 2 hours drive from the computer store if it was just around the corner I would have taken it back.

Hi, the hole spacing and alignment is completely different, not to sure what bit is different... see next post, thanks for your input.

Well, well, well,

Fitted the OEM fan from Intel without a problem, so it looks like the H100i had a part which maybe have been wrong, now have to see how I can get new one or try and get my money back... yeh right

Well, I don´t know anything about the legal situation over there, but that sure sounds like a reason for return in my book.

What surprises me even more is that Corsair couldn´t help you. I mean, their customer support seems to have a pretty good reputation.

I was wondering if it was old stock or just a simple mistake who knows but I now have to make a 4 hour turnaround journey to correct it. Still these things happen. Thanks for your help

Today went back to supplier to see what was wrong............ the bracket is adjustable I feel like a real goose. My only excuse is the actual pins were very tight, didn't know they moved.
Sorry guys for the wasted time, but thanks anyway.

Which standoff screws did you use for your 1150? The 1155/1156 or the 2011? There is no mention of 1150 in the manual....

Thanks, it's awesome. Was playing Crysis 2 last night with all the Directx11 updates and Hi Res textures, I was amazed.
