I've read on here a lot of people are having trouble getting RAM to work in this motherboard. I'm after 2x4gb RAM, the motherboard isn't on Corsairs memory finder either. I just want RAM that will go in, and have no problems or manual changes.

Solution
Go HERE for the memory support list. That said, any reputable memory (gskill, corsair, kingston, mushkin, etc) should work with your board. Your m/b manual also has a list of "officially supported" ram.

I know i'm upping an old topic, but since i got to this page, i'll hopes it help someone. If you concider O.C. memory unit, a.k.a. >1333Mhz, make sure the latency AND voltage match as well

The M5A97 R2.0 Does support, e.g.: 4*4go @ 2133Mhz. But specificaly @ 9-9-9-24. I overpaid some 2133Mhz 11-11-11-27 and can't use the XMP. Ending up with regular overpriced 1333Mhz stick !

I have had some problem getting the right ram Asus are now telling me the manual qvl list is different to the online one. I recently tried corsair vengeance pro 1866mhz 8 gb dual channel and it didn't work. However the corsair vengeance 1600mhz is in the manual as compatible.

Actualy, you bought memory with a higher clock than what was listed as supported, and even though the motherboard support up to 2333MHz THAT ram module is not listed.

As a matter of fact, the memory module i put on my mother board was 2133Mhz at a latency of 13-13-13 , the motherboard supported 9-9-9, so my modules having a higher latency, the motherboard should have been able to use it. Asus answer was "Logicaly it should've... But it don't..."

I really feel that the QVL is a way for MoBo manufacturer to protect themselves... Even though the brand listed are unattractive "Apacer for example", stick to the QVL or you won't win =/
