i dont know why this happens but when i first join a match for the first say 2 minutes a get a playable 40 fps minimum and average of about 50, but after that it gets worse and worse until its dropping to 26 fps and averaging around 34 fps. is there a good reason for this?
my specs are
q6700 2.66
hd 6850 oc gigabyte
4gb ddr2 only 3.3 available

Solution
Is it possible your just seeing a drop in fps because more stuff is going on around you? I would recommend adding another 4GB of memory but that will require an upgrade to a 64 bit os if you are currently running on a 32 bit os.

Has this always been a problem or has it just started occuring recently?

it could be a temperature issue. try running HWmonitor in the background when you play bf3 and report what temps you are getting. If this is a new problem then try cleaning ur case, get all the dust out of there, especially from your cpu cooler.

+1 for temperature issue. Sounds like heat build-up causing either your CPU or GPU to throttle. You may be getting near a thermal limit on one or both.

In addition to HWMonitor for the CPU, you can use MSI Afterburner's overlay to display GPU data and temps on screen while you play.

yeah i think you are right. 64 bit os would have helped but also that cpu is just enough to play bf3 smoothly. more than 20 players gives me drops to under 30 fps
