I purchased 4 of the 64GB data sticks but one of them has failed. I have one for my personal pictures which is the one that failed. When I put it in the USB port of my laptop I get a notice indicating that I have to 'format' the device before I can use it. I don't understand what could have happened to this data stick or how to correct the problem without formatting it. If I format it I'll lose all of my pictures, if I haven't lost them already.
Is there a way to correct the problem and retrieve my pictures? I have no idea how to contact the company that made the data-stick to possibly send it to them to see if they can get my pictures before I 'format' it. Please, please help me if there is anyway to get my pictures. Of course I saved my pictures to this data-stick then deleted them from my hard drive.
Any help will be appreciated.

I think the SD card died. Before buying anything and spending money on anything try to format and clean install of OS. That would solve the PC problem. If you have an extra storage device then copy all the data's there prior formatting.

I thank you for your response but I have to say I DON'T recommend the first link for data recovery software, free and decent. It installed all sorts of trash on my system that caused error pop-ups that didn't even allow IE to open again. I had to go into my control panel and uninstall everything hat was installed. It scared the hell out of me since I'm a user of my computers only, not a computer Guru. I also tried the chkdisk for the drive my data-stick is but it did absolutely nothing. It acted as if there was no drive E. I had put the wrong data-stick in which is working correctly and ran the chkdsk which did how all of my 'work' files & pictures. Out of the 4 data-sticks I bought the one I have my personal pictures on is the one that failed. I have not tried the recovery/3000 but I guess I will have to do that when I have more time. I have been trying to uninstall one of the PC Optimizer Pro, which was one of the programs downloaded with that free data recovery download but it won't let me uninstall it. I keep getting the message that it is already running so I have to stop it. I have no idea how to do that. I guess I'll just keep trying to uninstall it since I'm sure it will eventually have to stop running.
Again I thank you for you response and trying to help.

Something gone wrong with the installation else it would run fine. I myself use this software frequently and never ran into problems that you described. And if you are trying to uninstall something which wont let you than look in the "Task Manager" stop the process from running then uninstall it.

Thanks, the PC Optimizer did scan and told me there are hundreds of things that need to be removed but it will cost $49.90 something to purchase the program to remove these things. I just uninstalled it once it was finished I give up. The data-stick isn't even recognized anymore when connected. Do you know how I can contact the company that made these data-sticks; Canton? Maybe I could send it to them and they could retrieve my pictures.

Sorry to read your sad story; its a hard lesson to learn that important finles should always be stored in more than 1 location. This means making backups. So if you have 1 device you access these files on regularly then you should have, imo, at least 2 more backups and not 2 more copies on the same or just 1 other device.
