I'm not an AMD expert, but I'm guessing that if it has some technology like Optimus that nVidia has, it should switch by itseft during graphically intensive scenes.

It should switch when a DirectX game is detected, or least that's the way many of these hybrid systems work, or sometimes work is the better option. OpenGL games don't always trigger it, some DX games don't. It's a neat feature but something they should give the user a hard option to decide when it turn it on or off and not up to the PC.

When you start a game, your GPU will be changed to your AMD. Start a game, and see if it has changed.

See, OP, I told you, usually it changes when it detects a game. You can check by maybe running a game in windowed mode, and having GPU Z open on the side with the tab that displays GPU usage, you can download GPU Z for free, and then you can choose which of the 2 graphics cards you want to have displayed.

A very easy way to check is download MSI Kombustor or FurMark. When running a benchmark or burn-in test, these will tell you which GPU is being used, what the core and ram speed is for that GPU, fan speed and core temperature.

Some users report FurMark has caused overheating, so personally I use Kombustor for testing.

This will make it easy for you to confirm that your PC is using the right GPU.
