Hello! My system is now a little bit out of date and I'd like to see if overclocking could help with performance. Problem is I'm not exactly a pro when it comes to this.

I use the stock cooler and have 4GB of DDR2 memory at 400MHz and would like to overclock that too. The current frequency of the CPU is 333x7. Thank you!

Good news is, that's a P35 based board which are very decent OC'ers. Bummer is your at a low multi on the CPU (x7) and your FSB is already at 333. So with your current ram, your limited on the OC. You would have to raise your FSB from 333 to 400 400 being the max of your ram, without going over spec). At 400 fsb x 7 which will get you a 2.8ghz speed up from stock of 2.33.

Saying that, there is more to OC'ing...

Saying that, there is more to OC'ing than just putting in the settings Ive mentioned. You ned to look at monitoring software for heat on the CPU, stress testing etc. You should read as much as you can before doing it, so you have information on what to do, and what not to do. There are a lot of variables with OC'ing, like voltage control for the CPU, making sure you have a good cooler to keep the heat down. So don't just jump in.

A good start is to google your CPU/Mobo combo, and see if there are any guides.

This is a quide to a different mobo, and CPU combo(although very similar). It has good information on the basic explanations of OC'ing have a read and if you need any more info, you can PM :)
