hi experts, i'm thinking to buy MSI Z87-GD65 GAMING mobo.i think i'll not overclock since i'll use latest i5-4670K.

will it support SATA II?
is it any problem with the msi?

if so, please suggest a good motherboard please,i'm so confused right now. budget ~200.

Solution
The Asus Z87-A would be your best bet for a lower cost motherboard that functions almost the same as the z87-plus. IT ALSO HAS A SWEET 75 DOLLAR OFF DEAL WITH THE 4670K!!!! woot!. Here's a link for the combo deal:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1413583

With that deal and savings on an entry level motherboard, please get an aftermarket heatsink for your CPU. It will help your temperatures a lot as Haswell likes to overvolt and stay hot when everything is set to auto (which will be since you don't seem like you will tinker around). Get a cheap 212 evo. Here's a link:

Hopefully I helped you choose the right products.

I'm confused, too.

So you don't plan on overclocking? If you don't want to OC, then you'd be better off buying the non-K version of that chip. So there's that. If you're gonna be overclocking, anyway, don't go for a Haswell chip. The Ivy-B one's OC better. But that's clearly not what you're asking.

As for the motherboard, that mobo is quite fine and it will support SATA II and the brand is also fine. :wahoo:

You buy a "K" to be able to overclock.
Any Z87 based motherboard will allow at least a conservative overclock. Think 4.0.
Considering the minimal price difference from a 4670, it is best to buy a "K" even if you do not plan to overclock. You might change your mind, and it is easy and safe. Plus, the "K" will return you more when you eventually want to sell it.
As to which motherboard, the brands are all good. The guts are exactly the same(Intel Z87 chipset).
Pick based on how many expansion slots you need and other factors.
All will support all types of sata and usb3.0.

yeah, i don't plan to overclock. but i'm more comfortable if the processor got a "K" on it.haha.
plus, maybe i'll overclock it.. not sureeeeeeeeeeeee. because im not good at it. lol. what good model for Z87?

I can't think of any Z87 motherboard that is not good.
If your use is for gaming, and you will use only one graphics card, then look for a M-ATX format.
They are smaller and have only 4 expansion slots.
If you are planning on triple monitor gaming with dual cards, then a full ATX size and sli capability will be better.

Atm I am using an Asus Z87-Plus. So far it is a very nice board that isn't overloaded with worthless "features". It is possible to add another graphics card for SLI/CF on it (although reducing each slot to x8 instead of x16...a couple fps lost which can be gained by overclocking the cards :p). All of those boards are great. What is your other hardware? Out of the 3 maybe we can pick one out for you based on your other stuff and future plans :)

intel i5-4670/4670K
500GB HDD
4GB RAM

i want to buy good motherboard because i don't want to change/upgrade my motherboard in a next few years.
and i want my mobo to withstand quite high temp because i've experienced lots of times that my 2 pc broken bcause of high temp.

Honestly, these motherboards aren't really for you. I would go for a lower cost motherboard and buy an aftermarket heatsink for your cpu (the stock one is absolute crap...). I recommend the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO which will allow for a moderate overclock in the future. Are you getting a discrete graphics card?
