Steam Game Resolutions

Hey Toms.
Since installing my GTX 770, games on Steam are only allowing a maximum resolution of 1680x1050 while my resolution is set to 1920x1080 according to NVIDIA Control Panel and the standed, Windows setting. Any ideas??

Thanks

Hey man, thanks for your help.
Would you mind telling me how? This is my first Nvidia card, been with AMD for years :p

No, I just mean my games (on steam) in general, but not all of the are doing it.
For example, Borderlands 2, Skyrim and Dead Island are maxing at 1680x1050 while Civilization 5 and Saints Row 3 allowed 1920x1080

EDIT: Now my maximum resolution has gone down to 1680x1050. Windows 'Screen Resolution' setting now won't give me the option either

Yes I am sure. Have used this monitor with my previous GPUs (HD6770s in CrossFire) for the past year at 1080p
Connected via DVI

I managed to get my Desktop back to 1080p but still no luck in-game

EDIT: Windows is telling me I am using a 'Generic PnP Monitor' under the resolution settings, if I recall correctly it is normally called something else

ok might be good to fresh install the drivers.

grab the latest nvidia drivers and driver fusion.

uninstall amd drivers if you have not and dont restart.
uninstall nvidia drivers and dont restart.
run driver fusion and clean amd and nvidia drivers then restart.
install nvidia driver again.

try this and see if you have some luck.

Already wiped the AMD drivers but I'll give it a shot, will CCleaner do the same trick as driver fusion?

Fully wiped all the old drivers and reinstalled Nvidia Drivers to no avail.
Desktop remains at 1920x1080
The likes of Borderlands 2 still max out at 1680x1050

Maybe there is a setting in Nvidia Control Panel I am overlooking? This is my first Nvidia GPU and I have no idea how the software works.
Thanks again for your help

EDIT: Since this post I have been searching the interwebs for a solution. I haven't been able to find a situation identical to my own but I have found some that are at least similar. Is it possible for this issue to be caused by a faulty DVI Cable? I think what is confusing me most is that my Desktop remains at 1080p but not games...

I'm having the same problem. I have GTX 670 on a Seiki 32GL12F TV. When I launch some of my steam games, the screen re-sizes from 1920x1080 to 1680x1050. The in game settings allow me to choose 1920x1080 but still my monitor is still 1680x1050 so i have letter boxing. Running in window mode it reverts to 1920x1080. At a loss at what to do.

Hey bud.
In the end I found it to be a faulty monitor, I have since changed to new ones and the problem has resolved itself
