Hey guys, my AMD Radeon 7970 HIS 3GB decided to stop working a few days ago. I was using it and playing Skyrim, then when I was done I turned off my PC. A couple of days later I went back to play it and I turned on my PC and it powered up fine and everything but there was no display/signal on the TV screen.

I restarted the PC multiple times and still the same issue, I then opened it up and re-seated the card, unplugged all connections and plugged them back in, installed latest 13.8 beta drivers, all to no avail, i thought the pci-e slot wasn't working so I tried another card and it worked so I know that's not the trouble.

The only thing I haven't tried is updating the bios, hopefully that works. If you guys have any solution to my problem please let me know, I really don't want to have to buy another card :(  Please help!

System Specs:
PSU: Corsair GS700
Motherboard: MSI k9n6pgm2-v2
CPU: AMD Phenom x4 9750 2.4Ghz
GPU: AMD Radeon 7970 HIS 3GB (currently using ati radeon 4650 1gb)
HDD: Seagate 1TB 7200rpm
SSD: OCZ 60GB

UPDATE: It wont show up in device manager either, also tried both dvi and hdmi to no avail

You gave the answer of your own question. If any other GPU runs without problem then the current GPU is faulty. You can try to update BIOS but I think it will not work. Another thing you can try : take out the RAM's and reseat it properly. See if it helps.

I tried reseating the ram also, even put in some extra ones i had left off and still nothing, but why would my GPU just stop working randomly like that? Also Iv'e had it since december last year

I think its RMA time now for the GPU.

See the thing is I bought it from someone about 7-9 months ago and only got the GPU, no warranty info

Ask him/her for the warranty info. But I think you have to buy a new GPU. Good luck.
