I have an A7GM-S and prior to acquiring the 1100T I checked that it was supported by my MB. The BIOS is the latest revision, but it won't post. I have 8GB DDR2 4x2GB. My current CPU which does work is a Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz.

Any clues on what could the problem be? I was thinking something about the 1100T requiring the RAM to work faster OCed 800 or even 1066MHz RAM, but I wouldn't want to buy 8GB more unless I was completely sure and after I had tried everything.

On the Mobo support page (http://www.foxconnchannel.com/ProductDetail.aspx?T=motherboard&U=en-us0000371#)

It lists BIOS update A7GM-S as adding AM3 support. Check your BIOS version.

EDIT: BIOS update 799F1P11 adds AM3 support, but you should update to the latest. You want to be on the Tech Support tab for that page.

Yes, actually on my original post I mentioned having the latest BIOS revision(version).

My theory is that the CPU is requiring very specific timings or configuration from the memory or MB to boot, but I can't find any combination of options. I tried limiting memory freq, setting to auto, increasing HT speed. Maybe the CPU requires a memory @ 1066MHz and I can't overclock from 800 all the way to that speed.

Sorry - missed the updated BIOS - you have 800mhz memory?

This page looks like it should support the memory:
http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/processors/phenom-ii/Pages/phenom-ii-key-architectural-features.aspx

Integrated DRAM Controller with AMD Memory Optimizer Technology
A high-bandwidth, low-latency integrated memory controller
Supports PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066); PC2-6400 (DDR2-800), PC2-5300 (DDR2-667), PC2-4200 (DDR2-533) or PC2-3200 (DDR2-400) SDRAM unbuffered DIMMs – AM2+
Support for unregistered DIMMs up to PC2 8500(DDR2-1066MHz) and PC3 10600 (DDR3-1333MHz) – AM3
