I don't know about Planet Side specifically, but yeah this seems like it's under-performing. Especially since you're on med settings and your resolution is low too.

Did you try other games?

yes saints row 3 seems fairly slow on high but bioshock infinite is like butter on very high at 50-60fps

Forgot to ask: Do you use a lot of AA? And if so, did you try to turn it off?

planetside 2 is online based so it could be your internet lagging.

That's a good thing because AA eats a lot of resources. Never been a big fan of it, never felt like it made graphics look better and it only make your FPS drop a lot. Sometimes I'll use only 4x, but not more.

By the way, I just checked the requirements for Planet Side 2 and they're quite high. It could simply be that your hardware isn't powerful enough...

i figured it out, my resolution is too low so my cpu is bottlenecking it, but im going to save for a fx 4100 and another 4gig of ram

If you can stretch your budget, the FX-6300 is much better.
