New Computer Build - CPU with integrated GPU is not recognized

Hi,

I got a tower computer as a present for my birthday from all of my friends, and I've got it formatted with Windows 7 64 bit and used Driver Reviver to install all my drivers...

The CPU is an AMD A Series Accelerated Processing Unit so it's supposed to work better than a video card I am told?

Anyways, I can't play any games yet because the computer is not recognizing the GPU.

When I tried installing the Catalyst driver for the AMD A8 660K Quad-Core Processor (That's what the box says) it ruined my Windows install and I had to reformat and reinstall from the beginning. I got a black screen of death.

Any ideas here?

So this is whats happening with the computer (friend).

This is the 2nd install of Windows 7 since the computer was put together. First time the drivers were installed for APU the screen goes black after the loading windows screen. So, we formatted and reinstalled.

On the 2nd install, all drivers were installed and updated, including the MOBO's, installed the Catalyst 13.4 for the APU and restarted, and we're back to the black screen.

Tried in F8 options on boot up to, "Enable Low-Resolution Video (640x480), same problem. Tried safe mode, able to get in, so we used, "Last Known Good Configuration (Advanced)" and we can get back into Windows, except now, for some reason, we cannot connect to the Internet (but thats a different...

After you do a fresh windows install, try installing Catalyst 13.4 to see if it picks up your APU's iGPU. Additionally, make sure you get the Catalyst version for Win7 64 bit, as there are multiple version of the catalyst drivers.

EDIT: The APU you have has a built in Graphics Processor that uses the System RAM to run Video. It's about on par with an entry level gaming GPU. It will perform pretty well for many games, but some of the more demanding titles...(like Crysis 3, etc.) would require you to get a discrete GPU to run. This is simply because they are in fact so graphically demanding only mid-high end graphics processing units can actually run all the calculations for the game. Though you could likely play BF3 and many similar games pretty easily...

When we return to the desktop there is an Error Message saying we cannot run MOM.exe in a Catalyst screen.

So thats where we stand with the currently issue. Without the Catalyst drivers, we can still get a nice clean high resolution, but everything shows the computer just using a typical VGA Card. Can't run any form of game even as simple as League of Legends (fails to load 3D something or other [can't view right now, no internet, ha])

That's an issue from the drivers...

You need to install newest version of catalyst. Can you download them on a different computer, save them to a thumb drive and install them from the thumb drive on the PC?

EDIT: You might google MOM.exe as well, and just see if there is any other explanation besides drivers to clear up as well just in case.

I'll give that a shot tomorrow and update after trying. Likely in the morning so if I need to contact MSI/AMD I'll have the day to waste away with their "tech support"

Tried downloading from another computer, installed, asked to reboot, do so, and bam, black screen.

MOM.exe is something to do with the Catalyst software and the message says I required .Net Framework if I want it to work.

SO, I've downloaded .Net Framework 4.5 and installed it. Followed by completely uninstalling all the AMD Catalyst software thats installed by MSI's drivers/utilities CD but each time I try to uninstall I always get Microsoft Installer has stopped working. Still uninstalls but I feel its not being uninstalled properly.

After that, I restart the computer and attempted to install the drivers, and....still getting the black screen after rebooting.
