Right now i have a crappy router and that came with my ISP package. I am paying for 10 Mbps. I am hardwired to the router but am getting capped at around 1 mbps with my torrents. If i upgrade my router to a high-end netgear, will i see increased download speeds and internet browsing speeds on my hardwired computer?

Are you capped at 1mb when you don't use torrents, IE, run a test at speedtest? If you get 10mb at speedtest and 1mb with a torrent, either A, the torrent doesn't have enough seeds, or B, your ISP throttles you and can't help you bypass that.

the ISP provides 10 megabits. torrents are measured in megabytes. 1 megabyte is 8 megabits. you are pretty close to the rated speed provided by the ISP anyways. for the most part, you will not reach the max rate of 1.25 megabytes that is provided by the ISP due to others sharing a line and that you almost never reach the theoritical maximum
