Hey guys. I am trying to oc my sapphire 7970 w/ boost, and I ran into some issues while running it through heaven. First of all, I ran it through heaven without ocing it, and everything was fine. Got temps of around 55 degrees celsius, and good performance. Then I went into sapphire's trixx tuning utility and bumped up the core clock to 1000 megahertz. I ran it through heaven again and got a black screen, then stable performance, then a black screen, and then I exited out. After that, my computer seized up and I had to reset. Did I do something wrong? Or did I just get a bad overclocker? Thanks all, I'm a bit concerned about this...

if you didn't adjust voltages you probably pushed the core clock too high and made it unstable.

What voltage would you recommend for ocing to 1100-1200 mghz?

Sounds like a lousy overclocker.

In general, raise it in small increments until it acts up. Then raise the voltage a bit then try again.

Raising clocks and especially voltages in large increments is a no-no.
