Ok, so I bought this laptop.. and it has a NGFF (thats the right name, right? I'm not familiar with it) but it's mounted BACKWARDS, now I got to thinking "just de and re solder the port, genius idea" but then I found a space big enough for a msata ssd..
So first question; is the NGFF m.2 port the same as a msata port?
Second question; if the port is different, is there a converter cable for it?

Solution
I dont beleive the two can be made to work together. The msata drive is looking to connect to a sata controller and an ngff drive is looking to connect to a pcie bus.

I have not seen any pinouts of the ngff (m.2) to compare with though so dont stop digging and post back if you find something interesting.

Is there a ngff to msata cable, or can I make one? I need the ssd for boot and drivers and larger apps. I know the port is different, and I know ngff is supposed to be a sata and pcie connection, but the use of the port on the laptop is just for ssd, and I need a way to convert the ngff to msata (preferably a cable) and I can mount the msata in the space I have found that's accessible with double sided tape (there's nothing else in the space, so I already know I'm not going to interfere with any components)
Specifically the port is a M.2, so is there a M.2 to MSATA cable?

Thanks everyone for helping. I did some looking at closeup pictures of the actual ports, and found out that solder joints are on both sides, so I checked again and it isn't backwards. I didn't realise that the port is like that, so it was a misunderstanding on my part, sorry everyone.
