Hi.

This may be the cause of all my troubles this summer. My fans seem to have failed me. The 200mm Corsair fan at the bottom-front of the case doesn't move, and the 200mm Corsair Fan at the top of the case only moves if I flick it. My cooling fans at the back works fine. My master fan controller doesn't work as usually the LED lights would go bright with the increased speed of the fans.

I overclocked my computer a few weeks ago to 3.8 Ghz ( following these steps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw_NISjMv44 ) and thought that might've been the cause, so I reverted to optimized defaults only to run into another "windows failed to load" scenario with no results from startuprepair. I was able to reach desktop by typing in "bootrec.exe/FixMbr" in the command prompt. I never got around to running prime95 on the 3.8Ghz overclock, however prime95 runs flawlessly on optimized defaults.

What could be causing my fans not to work properly? Fried fans? Voltage? Can a bad fan cause windows 7 to enter its startuprepair mode?

What do I do next?

Please help if you can!

Are those fans too old? If they are in warranty you should definitely go for a RMA. Else try it on another system if it still doesnt work then maybe the bearings in them have worn out. What is the model of those fans?

They came with the build in 2011. I bought the entire thing from NCIX.ca, so everything is about 2 years old. I've only started having problems this summer though.

I can't tell what the model of the fans are. The fans look like they come with the case from anyplace you buy it. 2 x 200 mm white LED fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Thanks for responding! It means a lot.

They look like sleeve bearing to me, they dont last long. You were lucky that they lasted two years. Time for you to buy new fans.

Thanks for your cool, quick responses! I'll take it in to Canada Computers to see if they can fix 'er up. I dont know the slightest thing about fan installation. I don't want to fugg it up. It best be worked on by some skilled hands.

I wonder if my fans have been the cause of windows failing to start for the past month or so.

You think there is anything else in my specs that could be nearing the end of its life cycle?

Even if they repair it i dont think that they will work properly but its worth to give a try. All other components looks good to me no need to worry about 'em.

Yea, I better ask them if its worth the trouble repairing these fans or getting new, long-lasting one's installed.

I'll update the thread once the build is stable :D

If you want long lasting fans then go for Corsair AF120 they come for around 15$
