I have an Acer Aspire M3100-u3300a. I am having a hard time finding a non generic manual and none of the ones i do find say anything about the case. The new motherboard is an ASRock H61M-DGS micro-atx. I'm just trying to make a cheap 1366x768 gaming rig. I am on a shoestring budget and would like to use the only useful things in this computer such as the case, disk drive, and hard drive. If you want to see the rest of my "build" Here it is. I would greatly appreciate any help as i've all but given up on finding a good manual. On Acer's sight i downloaded two manuals that supposedly were for my pc but contained no specific information.

The other thing to look out for is the IO Shield at the back of the computer. On a vast majority of pre-built systems the IO Shield is built as part of the case and there fore not removable. So you might have to do some modding on it just to get a new IO Shield to even fit. Since these type of systems are not meant to be upgrade the way you are wanting to do it is just one less thing the manufactures spends any cost on.

Thats one worry of mine but since it's a pre-built machine and not a commercial case isn't there a possibility that the ports in the back don't fit, or is this really uncommon?

if your current motherboard layout is m-ATX, the i/o ports (which are a part of the motherboard) should be located in the same spot. Again, a good visual of what you have vs what you want to get should tell you if it will work.
