Hey, my friend wants to upgrade her graphics card.

http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products...

It has a GT630, and it has a 460watt PSU. My question is, what is the best card it can handle? She was looking at a 7850.

Budget isn't really a concern. She doesn't want to upgrade her PSU if at all possible. She likes to play at 1080p. Just wants to know the best card she can safely run on that 460w PSU.

Edit: What do you mean by location?

depending on a range we can suggest. there are cards available at 80 $ & then there are 1000$ cards available too. if its a good well known psu, its possible but then its way better for future. location meaning where you currently reside so as to suggest pricing according to the location. for ex US, New zealand, UK...parts vary country & region wise

I guess a max of $300 for the card, then. That's around the highest she was looking at, and she's in the US.

for nvidia latest 7 series..i suggest 760

the 760 is cheaper by 50 dollars & pretty good performance card.however i suggest the 7970 as it can easily smoke most games at 1080p & easy to crossfire should you have a multiple pcie slots motherboard

i think she might have to upgrade her psu, else the psu will throttle the gpu down. oh btw forgot to mention, make sure the tower of the pc is big enough to accomodate the gpu. else she end up buying a gpu that doesnt fit in her case.

Get a Nvidia 760. It is a good Graphics Card for your budget and would work with that PSU. Though you might want to update your PSU later down the road.

Thank you :)  She just told me she would really rather go with AMD, though. Can you recommend an AMD card for the PSU she has?

AMD 7950 is comparable to a 760 but it sucks more power.

The 7870 consumes a bit less power but it is not nearly as powerful as a 760. So you should go for the 760 as

1. It is a lot faster.
2. It uses less power.

So 760 is the best of both worlds. Definitely get that.
