Hi,

About a month ago I have built a new PC. Here are the specs:

Intel Core i7-4770
Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H
8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
Sapphire HD7950 Vapor-X
Cooler Master GX Bronze 650W PSU

So there was this one day I was playing Dota 2, when suddenly a loud, continuous buzzing noise breaks the silence in my room (I wear headphones), and the buzzing won't stop. I took off my headphones, place my head closer to the side of the desktop and it seemed to me that the buzzing noise came from the PSU. The only way for me to stop the buzzing is to restart the PC.

So I went back to the shop and they exchanged the PSU with the same make and model, hoping that it will solve the buzzing issue. Unfortunately, the buzzing came back about a week later, this time while I was playing GTA IV. Once again, I had to restart the PC to stop the buzzing noise, realizing that the culprit is not the PSU.

Soon after, it happened again, this time I wasn't playing any games, the computer was at idle while downloading a game. While the buzzing noise was going on, I opened up the side of the case, attempting to identify the source. It turns out to be the motherboard speaker (the small, cylindrical speaker attached to a wire which in turn is attached to the motherboard). I can confirm that's the source of the buzzing noise; I placed my thumb over it and the buzzing noise is slightly muted.

This buzzing issue has left me completely baffled. I have no idea why it buzzes (it seems to go off rather randomly), and certainly I have found no solution for it. Which is why I'm here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went through the manual, however I can't find anything related. Can't find any section regarding the buzzer. I do found out that the speaker is connected to the F_PANEL section of the mobo. Not sure if there's anything to it. But thanks for your reply though. I'll try to dig more from the Internet.

Yeah maybe I will replace the entire mobo, but that'll be the last resort. The link you gave me shows the beep codes for the POST. I'm not really sure whether that'll help in my issue or not, because the buzzing noise on my PC comes long after startup. RAM is manufactured by Kingston.

Okay, I want to know if the PC keeps working after the sound starts ?
I am not familiar with beep codes but you can wait for an expert to reply.
Or you can open a support request at gigabyte website.
Or if the service centre is near, you can ask them about this. Or through helpline number.

Yes, the PC works fine even when the buzzing goes on. It's okay, you've been a great help! Looks like I'll have to drop by the shop tomorrow to get this over with. Thanks anyway.

Okay, will do.

Edit: Okay, I have finally cracked the problem. Turns out the culprit is the HW Monitor from CPUID. Whenever it's running in the background the mobo speaker will go off. Now that I have removed the software, the speaker hasn't made any noise since. Thanks for the help anyway!
