In 2009 I built a pc and installed a XFX ATI RADEON 4890 1024MB GDDR5.
Time has come for another pc build, having been so impressed by this card I though I would look at what the modern version would be. it cost me £172 in 2009. for similar price range £167 I can get a XFX AMD Radeon HD 7870 Double D (Tahiti LE) 2GB GDDR5.
My question is, will I gain a significant increase in graphics power for Gaming? as the core speed memory speed doesnt seem to have increased that much in 4 years even the ram has only doubled. Im not sure what I expected to find but on paper the increase seems small, how would this relate to real world performance. I play a mixed bag of games old and new from Counter strike to Arma 3 even the awful war Z. please bear in mind this is for a new pc build and not to use in an old machine.
Thankyou for any advice.
