Alrighty lets see if i can nail this on the first shot! I know a few PC basics and am slightly tech savy but nowhere near IT material so please bare with me if im off a few places.

I'm looking to upgrade my Dell XPS410 to keep up with some newer games. Im going to buy 2 more gigs of ram this weekend so im sure that will help. I cant decide whether to just updrade my graphics card to fit the requirements of my psu (375w) or to upgrade the psu and get a better graphics card. Doing some research ive read a few places that some older dell boards prior to 2008 were proprietary and although a newer psu's atx 24pin connector would fit the mb's power slot it could fry your system. I'm a pretty tough guy but that would probably make me cry! Anyone heard this before and have any input? This is probably the MAIN question i have.

Also if i could get some advise on a good psu and gp that would allow me to do some decent HD gaming on my system i would be very grateful! My previous card was an Nvidia 8600gt and worked pretty well but todays games were pulling away from its capabilites and it finally failed on me about 3 months ago. Im currently using a friends Geforce GT520 but the fan is broken and it overheats. If i could run WoW at full or near full without issue and maybe a few other games Id be fairly happy. I dont ever plan to run multiple monitors or edit hd other then maybe tinkering once in awile but I would like to get all i can get out of my board and processor. An HDMI out would be nice so that i could connect to my t.v.. So is there any hope for a system nearly 7 years old!?!

I would be thinking of building a new system. you have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, DVD drive.

I would love to but its not in the budget just yet. lol I could handle an upgrade if I thought it would get me another year or two.

lest see a new MB $100 CPU $100-$180 case $50 PSU <$100 OS $100

so for about $450 you get the whole thing.
