----------------------
I use Ethernet cord for the connection.
Its worked great since I got it. Recently (< 1 month) Ive had issues gaming online. tried a fresh reinstall of the OS and got all the video card/motherboard/etc drivers. Realtek and fast lan drivers for Lan. Unable to connect at a steady rate to play a online game. Need help troubleshooting. Side note, I have linux mint installed(dual boot) to see if windows 7 was the problem and it also disconnects from the web at intervals. Took the pc to my friends house to see if it was my internet connection but it does the same thing here. Could my motherboard be the culprit? Used various new ethernet cords so its not the problem.

Solution
have you tried using the PC without the X-fast setting enabled on the BIOS? that motherboard has a feature called X-fast LAN and it could be the culprit. if it has been enabled try using it disabled and enable it if it was previously disabled.
