my friend got a new ATI RADEON graphic card,Radeon X1000 Series(x1550 i think),that's his second graphic card, first one was Nvidia GeForce 8600gt.First two weeks graphic worked fine(ATI RADEON) then suddenly, when he was playing minecraft, black screen appeared.First black screen appeared every 20-30 mins(each time when he restart computer) but only when he was playing games and stuff.when black screen appear he have to restart computer. Then one day he pulled off graphic card and black screen no longer appeared..so only when he have graphic plugged in(ATI RADEON) black screen happens. He took that graphic card to some "computer fix workshop" and they said "this graphic is working fine" is this Graphic problem or some BIOS problem of motherborad problem...

P.S sorry for bad english :D

A driver update should fix this issue, you can get the drivers here http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

With older gpu and newer games the card coud be overheating or the power supply is old or to weak for the gpus.

Does the black screen show up on the minecraft screen or the whole monitor?

If it is a black monitor screen then it is ever your pc thinks you aren't doing anything so It has gone to sleep, try turning hibernate off in settings.

If that doesn't solve it then it is definitely a overheating problem, go into your catalyst control centre and speed up the fans on the gpu.

Like I said open up control centre ( right click desktop, if it doesn't come up google it and download it) then turn up the fan on the gpu.

How many fans are in the case (not including cpu cooler or gpu or psu) + what case is it.

Also good be the psu, what psu is it? Taking the gpu will lower the necessary watts to power the system therefore causing it not to crash.

If worst come to worst and minecraft is the only game he plays, then a gpu is not necessary because it isn't gpu hungry.

this might be a reason..btw how to solve this problem... is there anything thats downloable like driver for this?

I would need to know what psu it is, so I can figure out if this is the problem.
