Hello

I recently have purchased the parts of a new mid range gaming PC.
The specs

i5 4670k
MSi z87 g45
Gigabyte gtx 760 oc 2gb
G.Skill Ares 16gb RAM
Samsung 840 120gb ssd
Coolermaster Seidon 120m AIO cooler

From my previous computer I have a Thermaltake toughpower qfan 850W, which I have since 4 years for those days build a quad core q9300.

The supply unit was flawless and never gave me problems. So the question is, should I carry it over to the new build or should better not?

Thanks in advance for any opinions given

I think you should be fine so long as PSU did not give you any problems.
I run an older Toughpower 750 watt that I have had for about 4-5yrs.
My system specs are :
I7 2600K 3.4ghz OC'ed to 4.7ghz
16GB Ram Crucial Tactical Tracers
ASUS Sabertooth P67 board
2x 6950 2gb video cards OC'ed
3 x 23" Asus led screen at 5750x1080 Resolution
2x 80GB SSD in RAID
1TB hard drive
X-FI sound card
DVD Drive
BLURAY Drive
9 fans in a COSMOS II case
LED light strips in case
Custom Water Cooling System
and about 9 USB devices

So ya with what you are running on a 850 watt PSU you should be fine

Well I ll take your word,
You seem like pretty well armed for a 750watt psu.
Though we have the same, just yours is 750w and since you had no issues either, then I ll go on with it!
Thanks

Hey np Patso
The video cards now don't use as much power as the older video cards did and CPUs are also using less power

For a system using a single GeForce GTX 760 graphics card NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 30 Amps or greater and that has at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Sufficient Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated at 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most critical factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) may require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

The Thermaltake Toughpower QFan Series 850W (W0204) power supply unit, with its maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 32 Amps and with two 6-pin and two (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors, is more than sufficient to power your system configuration with a single GeForce GTX 760 graphics card.

Even after 4 years of use it should have no problem powering your new system although due to its older circuit design it may not be Haswell C6/C7 low power state compatible.
