what would be a good gpu for bf3/bf4?? amd/nvidia. i do not care which one, as long as it would be able to run bf3/bf4 high/ultra 1600x900 rez with a smooth 50-60 fps in mid combat. any reccomandations?

Solution
If you want an AMD CPU, go with the FX 6350 (you'll still have to change your motherboard).
If you want the more powerful Intel CPU, go with an i5-3350p.

As for the graphics card, if you want high settings on BF4, you need a GTX 760 or better.
What's your budget? That matters way more than anything else...
What graphics card do you already have? What power supply?

You need to give us more information.

Also, it might well be a good idea to take some of the GPU budget to buy a 1080p monitor - it doesn't seem like a big resolution bump, but I went from 1600x900 to 1920x1080, and the difference is actually huge.

YES. You should ABSOLUTELY be upgrading your CPU - that's going to be huge, as that CPU is not meant for being hefty at processor-intense tasks. Unfortunately you can't upgrade that without also upgrading your motherboard.

I highly suggest you save up until you can afford a low-end i5, a motherboard, and a decent graphics card, since you want to be running those games at high / ultra settings.

The good graphics card will get you the settings, but it'll be expensive.. and you HAVE to have a decent processor if you want to actually stay at a high framerate - otherwise it's going to be as laggy as heck.

alright that just solved my question. but one thing idont understand is how that cpu is only like 3.1 ghz and quad core when the amd fx 6350 is 6 cores and 3.9 ghz. and a whole lot cheaper then the i5??

Because they're made completely differently. The frequency ('GHz') doesn't matter one bit. It's virtually meaningless, because the cpus are made with different architecture. Intel's is much more efficient, so it does a lot more work per tick... so 1 GHz of that i5 is about the equivalent of ~1.3GHz of a new FX chip.
